Council of International Schools (CIS)

Fairgreen International School, Dubai is pursuing accreditation with the Council of International Schools (CIS) to further our commitment to internationalism and to align our guiding principles with globally recognised standards. The process will allow us to validate our mission and vision, as well as the pillars of our school, creating opportunities for both staff and students to engage with and leverage access to the global community. Being accredited globally offers reassurance and validation to our community, confirming that the ambitious statements we make about our school are being externally endorsed.

Why CIS?

As an IB World School, we aim to foster curiosity and inquiry in our students, staff and wider community. The CIS accreditation process promotes self-reflection and evaluation, and requires active involvement of all stakeholders. The CIS mission and vision aligns closely with our school pillars that centre around international mindedness, social responsibility and sustainability; building character and achieving academic growth and success. Its ethos reinforces our culture of care and wellbeing that is at the heart of what we do every day, and it is for these reasons that we have chosen to work with CIS in our pursuit of ensuring that what we do meets the needs of every learner we have under our care.

Following consultation with the CIS, Fairgreen International School has identified the following three development initiatives to prioritise as part of our CIS accreditation journey:

  1. Guiding Principles Review:

"Stronger Together: Cultivating a Culture of Belonging in Our School Community"

Our school is committed to creating a strong sense of belonging by cultivating meaningful relationships, fostering trust, and unifying our community through shared values and aspirations.

  1. Digital Wellbeing:

Community members understand how to engage, and when to disengage, with technology to enhance their own wellbeing and learning experiences. Community members understand the importance of owning and managing their own personal data.

  1. Intentional Teaching of Intercultural Mindedness

"If a community lacks intercultural mindedness, its members cannot fully express themselves; and without the freedom to be authentic, true collective well-being cannot be achieved."

Intercultural awareness fosters a school environment where design for learning cultivates cultures of belonging, ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of teaching and learning. We integrate host country perspectives into the curriculum, encourage similarity over difference in classroom discussions, and create opportunities for students to engage meaningfully with the cultural richness of their peers and the host country.
