Sustainability Initiatives
COP28 UAE
The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, more commonly referred to as COP28, will be the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference, held from 30 November until 12 December 2023, at the Expo City, Dubai.
Below are the Sustainable Initiatives of Fairgreen Students:

Abiha, Grade 11 student, will be attending the Blue zone with Decarbonize. She took part on weekends in online meetings with students from across the globe collaborating to write a 'Youth Manifesto'. Going forward Abiha will be involved in lots of preparatory work so she will be ready to present with students from other countries at COP28.

The SUMAS cohort have partnered with a school in Greece and will be working with them to discuss climate rated issues and solutions prior to visiting the Green Zone at COP28- this is also with Decarbonize

The Secondary Eco-Council have partnered with a school in Turkey and will be working with them to discuss climate rated issues and solutions prior to visiting the Green Zone at COP28- this is also with Decarbonize

Grade 9 students are taking part in a competition with Bradford University. They will be presenting a sustainability related solution to a problem to a group of experts at the end of the month and if they are successful they might win the chance to present their project at COP28.

Grade 5 & 6 students are taking part in “Schools Across the Ocean“ campaign. This supports marine life, but also has a poetry anthology built into a unit of study partners of schools in the UK. The anthology will be shared at COP. Our school is somewhere near Surrey.

Grade 4 students are visiting the COP28 site on December 6 to experience the Siemens exhibition. They are working with a group of Siemens engineers that focus on clean energy. They’re putting together examples of clean energy models. This is supported by a parent in the community.
