Sports

At Fairgreen, we believe that exercise is a vital component to student well-being. Students engage in Physical Education as part of their weekly schedules, and we encourage all students to join one of our many sports teams, nurturing school pride with after-school clubs and competitive sports.

School Competition

We encourage young athletes to participate in sport, exhibit good sportsmanship, and work toward achieving their athletic potential. We believe participating in sport helps create balanced individuals, leading to a healthy mind, body, and soul. Positive attitude, discipline, time management, and healthy competition help foster successful individuals.

The opportunity to participate in sports is a privilege and comes with the responsibility that each student maintains a high standard of behaviour as well as achieving academically to their highest potential.

Highly qualified teachers train students in a range of sports and athletics currently being offered and slated to be offered in the future, such as:

  • Football
  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Netball
  • Gymnastics
  • Swimming
  • Horse Riding
  • Cycling

Most classes will swim once a week until the week ending Friday, October 13. Those classes that do not swim at this time will begin the week starting Monday, October 23. More information will follow to those classes nearer the time.

Please see the swimming schedule below:

2SA, 1AB, Grade 6-8 boys will start the week of Monday, October 23.

All students will require the following kit for their swimming lesson:

  • Swimming costume/shorts
  • Towel/hooded towel. Please make sure that this towel is big enough to wrap around your child but not too big that it can cause your child to trip when walking
  • Swimming cap
  • Swimming goggles. Please make sure these are adjusted to fit before swimming lessons take place
  • Flip flops or crocs - any shoes that can be easily put on if students have to leave the pool area quickly.

Safety is the main priority for us here at Fairgreen when delivering the swimming units and we have a permanent lifeguard on duty who works alongside our fully qualified teaching staff. To ensure learning is personalised and at the appropriate level, we ensure students are working in groups that challenge them at the correct level depending on their past experience in swimming. If you have any questions or wish to find out more about the swim units here at Fairgreen, please contact your child’s PE teacher directly.
