Model United Nations
In preparation for taking their place as future leaders, thinkers and change-makers, all Esol Education schools offer students the opportunity to participate in Model United Nations (MUN).
MUN educates students about international relations, global challenges and diplomacy with an academic simulation of a UN conference. Students adopt roles as diplomats of a selected nation, and delegations of students examine international issues, learn to debate and problem-solve, and propose solutions for world problems.
Students research issues, write position papers and draft mock resolutions. Students learn about the procedures of the UN and attend MUN conferences where they present their cases and participate in mock debates surrounding a world issue. MUN helps develop critical thinking, public speaking, research, group communication, policy analysis, active listening, negotiating, reaching consensus, conflict resolution, note taking and technical writing.
