Our Primary students will bring the colourful and much-loved world of Shrek The Musical JR. to life, with opportunities for students to develop their acting, singing, dancing and ensemble performance skills.

Dance Audition Sign-Up
Sign up here to join the audition for a dance role in our upcoming production. No preparation is required. Auditions will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Rehearsals & Performances
Primary rehearsals will take place on Thursdays during the first term, and on Thursdays and Fridays during the second term, as we move closer to the production.
AUDITION PROCESS
Students interested in performing in either production will begin by submitting a video audition using the provided audition materials.
Selected students will then be invited to attend face-to-face callbacks, where they may be asked to sing, act, or perform choreography, depending on their role.
Students do not need to audition for every role. They can select the audition material that best reflects the role or type of role they are interested in.
Please note: Singing is required for all acting roles.

We recognise that students have different levels of performance experience. Auditions are not simply about finding the strongest singer, dancer, or actor; we also consider potential, suitability for a role, preparation, attitude, and the overall needs of the production.
Behind the Scenes
Stage Crew & Prop Makers
Not every student needs to be on stage to play an important part in our productions!
We warmly invite students interested in the creative and technical side of theatre to join our Stage Crew and Prop-Making Team. This is a wonderful opportunity for students who enjoy designing, creating, organising, problem-solving, and working collaboratively behind the scenes.
Depending on the needs of each production, students may have opportunities to support areas such as:

Creating and preparing props

Supporting set and scenic elements

Organising backstage areas

Assisting with scene and prop changes

Supporting the production team during rehearsals and performances
No audition is required for Stage Crew or Prop Makers. Students who are interested should complete the Google Form below to register their interest.

Once expressions of interest have been received, further information will be shared with selected students and families regarding meeting times, responsibilities, and the level of commitment required.
Please note that places may be limited depending on the needs of each production. We will do our best to provide meaningful opportunities for students to contribute and develop their skills.
CAST SELECTION
Following the callbacks, the production team will carefully consider each student before finalising the cast.
Casting decisions are based on a combination of audition performance, suitability for individual roles, vocal range, acting and movement skills, ability to work as part of an ensemble, and the overall requirements of the production.
Every role contributes to the success of a musical. Lead, supporting and ensemble roles all require commitment, preparation and teamwork.
Once casting has been finalised, students and families will receive further information regarding roles, rehearsal expectations and the production schedule.
COMMITMENT & ATTENDANCE
Being part of a school production is exciting and rewarding, but it also requires commitment from both performers and students working behind the scenes.
By accepting a place in the production, students are committing to:

Attend scheduled rehearsals or production sessions consistently

Arrive on time and prepared

Complete the preparation required for their role or production responsibility

Work positively and respectfully with the cast, crew, and production team

Attend additional rehearsals or production sessions when required closer to the performances

Participate fully and positively throughout the production process
As we approach performance dates, there may be additional or extended rehearsals and production sessions. Families will be informed of these dates in advance wherever possible.
We kindly ask families to consider the commitment carefully before accepting a place in the production.
