From our Head of Counselling Dear Parents,
Family Connection During the Pandemic - Shout Out to our Dads
One of the unexpected benefits of the pandemic, has been the amount of time that families are spending together. Parents being at home working whilst also caring for their children has meant that although there are challenges, children are benefitting from having increased time and attention from Mum and Dad. In recent times, more research has focused on the parental relationship between father and child. We know that greater involvement from fathers in their parental role yields multiple benefits, from security, protection, teaching skills, and developing a child's moral code and character. Particularly, the benefits of a fun and playful dad and nurturing mom has an increasing positive impact on a child's happiness and contentment at home. As today is Father's Day in many parts of the world, let's encourage some dinner table conversation about what our fathers mean to us. They need our attention and appreciation too! Here are some links to share for discussion: Feedback for the Counselling Service at Fairgreen As I am beginning to make plans for our school counselling service next year, I would appreciate any feedback to help develop this service including for our focus on wellbeing. If you have used the counselling service this year, please share any compliments or concerns to counselling@fairgreen.ae so that we can improve our service next year. Congratulations to Louise Mehta KG1 Teacher Louise was one of the 'graduates' of our first 8 week .b Mindfulness course in Term 1. She has since embedded her mindfulness practice and completed her Paws .b Training, well done Louise, as we look to sow the seeds of mindfulness further next year, it will be great to have this developed within our early years program. For more information about the .b and Paws, please review information at the Mindfulness in Schools Project https://mindfulnessinschools.org/
