PARENT UPDATES 17 August, 2020
A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR
Dear Parents,
2020-21 Reopening Plan - Guide for Parents
Coming soon will be some videos and maps showing the location and method of entry and departure so don't worry if you don't understand this from the booklet. Maybe you are like me, more of a visual learner. I have to see something before fully understanding it.
Please be aware that this situation is very unpredictible, so changes may occur along the way. Kindly be prepared for that. We will keep you informed every step of the way.
Graeme Scott Director
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL MEET-N-GREET STUDENT ORIENTATIONS:
FOR RETURNING STUDENTS ONLY: We are happy so many of our students will be joining us again this year. We will be having a brief Returning Student Orientation only for our returning students via Zoom on Thursday, 27 August, from 11am-11:45am. Please expect an email from your child's new homeroom teacher early next week welcoming your child to their new class that will also include a link to the orientation Zoom meeting. Returning students entering MYP (Grade 6) are invited to attend this online Zoom orientation instead of the New Student Orientation.
FOR NEW STUDENTS ONLY: Our New Student Orientation this year is very important to us as we recognise that starting a new school, whilst exciting as it marks the beginning of a new chapter, can also be worrying and stressful for children, parents and indeed new teachers!
To that end we will be inviting only new students from KG2 - Grade 10 and their parents to a short but meaningful visit to Fairgreen on Thursday, 27 August. Please note the timing of the New Student Orientation for each grade level:
Please Note: We are offering two sessions of our New Student Orientation per time frame so that you can attend more than one session if you have children in multiple grades. Teachers will be sharing the same information during each session. Students can attend the session unaccompanied by a parent if he or she chooses.
All teachers and staff will be available and welcoming to our new students during this New Student Orientation. As we will be inviting approx 50 children and their parents into school for this, it is critically important that our safety and arrival procedures are followed during this time, namely:
Departure
Questions We hope the session will be informative and reassuring. If you have any queries following the session, please contact the classteacher (EYP,PYP) or homeroom teacher for MYP. All other return to school information can be found on our website.
You may also reach out to our Head of Counselling Jackie Greenwood with any queries about the orientation programme at jgreenwood@fairgreen.ae

REMINDERS:
ID BADGES: FOR ALL NEW PARENTS ONLY As we prepare for the start of the new school year, we need to make sure our school security procedures are fully in place, which includes issuing Identification badges to our new Fairgreen parents and staff.
As part of our school security policy, all people on campus must wear an identification badge. When you come onto campus for any reason, you will need to wear your ID badge indicating you are a parent of a child at Fairgreen.
For all parents new to Fairgreen this coming school year, in order for us to issue your ID badge, please email the following to us at info@fairgreen.ae:
Please plan to pick up ID badges in school reception anytime after 25 August, Sunday through Thursday, between 8am-4pm at your convenience. Thank you for your prompt response to this request. Please see below for reminders relating to school transportation, technology and school uniforms.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our reception at 04 875 4999.
Please Note: These are not surigical grade or fitered masks and will not prevent Covid-19 on its own. DHA recommends students wear masks with surgical-grade protection. We are sharing this opportunity as a resource to our families for purchasing school uniform face masks. Students are NOT required to purchase from this company.
Fairgreen advocates that parents purchase the AppleCare protection package for their child's iPad. Although we will educate and promote safe and responsible iPad care, accidents happen. The AppleCare program will allow you to have damaged iPads repaired quickly, avoiding discord over any damage, and preventing surprise repair costs.
