Teacher Led After School Activities
Please look through the variety of Teacher-led ASAs we offer during a typical term.
Teacher-led ASAs take place Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Internal teacher-led ASAs are free of charge.
REGISTRATION for all ASAs is via our Schools Buddy system during registration week at the beginning of each term. If you forgot your user name and password for your Schools Buddy account, please email ASA@fairgreen.ae.

Lego and Construction Club
Children will be giving a weekly theme around which they can build and construct scenes and objects. They will build on their fine motor skills as well as working on social skills with their peers. They will use their inquiry, thinking and reflecting skills during the session. We come together at the end to discuss what they have built and why.
Construction Club
Welcome to construction club. This is a time to be imaginative and free! We have lots of construction resources for you to choose from such as Lego, stickle bricks, magna-tiles and K’nex and offer you the opportunity to work as part of a team constructing models. We will also explore constructing with junk modelling materials where you can turn junk into magnificent pieces of art. The opportunities are endless!
The Artist in Me
Not only early art experiences positively affect all the developmental fields in Early Childhood, but it also instill kids to think openly, create new meaning, be more tolerant of others' differences, and gives them the courage to take risks.This ASA will allow children to express themselves artistically by exploring and appreciating different techniques and forms of art, coming from various artists.

Explore books & resources for the IB Learner Profile traits, including being balanced, open-minded & reflective, among others. The IB Learner Profile traits promote the education of the whole child to become a lifelong learner and responsible citizen. Educating the whole child involves intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth. There are many ways to promote the IB learner profile traits, students will read books on character traits, attitudes, and practice comprehension strategies.

While there are many wonderful options to choose from, dance classes are always a popular choice–and for good reason! Not only do dance classes keep kids active and occupied, they provide a variety of lasting benefits such as gaining self confidence, creating healthy habits. Dance classes provide the perfect environment for kids to socialize with one another and practice their interpersonal skills within the Covid 19 restrictions.

Stories bring us together. Ms. T - the librarian will be sharing her favorite read-aloud books in a warm, and joyful environment of Fairgreen Library. Crafts related to children's books will be offered as well. Picture books with their beautiful illustrations and lovable characters make the perfect inspiration for your kids' artistic expression.
Girl Empowerment
This ASA is aimed for female students in grades 3-5 and will focus on enhancing social skills emphasizing self-esteem and self confidence. We will focus on a variety of themes such as friendship, communication, choices and body changes. Having a safe environment to learn, role play and implement positive strategies and skills will help the girls to develop a positive self-esteem in order to navigate through the social interactions of their lives today. Please come with an open-mind prepared to have fun, meet new friends and grow.

Students will be given a specific material each week to create something of their choice around a theme. For example modeling using salt dough, recycled materials, building blocks a random mix of items etc. Some projects are for taking home while school supplies such as building blocks will stay at school (we will take photos though!).
Stop Motion Animation
Playdough Club
Children will start by making their own playdough and then we look at different ways of manipulating the playdough and how they can create different things with it. It is a great way for children to continue developing their fine motor control and also a great way for them to unwind after a busy school day.

This is student led support session for grade 6 and 7 students who would like academic support and confidence boosting. Supported by the school counsellor Ms Jackie, students will be able to learn study skills in maths, science, I&S and english, and receive tutoring from a grade 9 and grade 10 wellbeing champion, who are academically successful in school.
Eco Schools
(By application only) Calling all Environmental advocates! The Eco Council would like to invite you to apply for a position on the 2021-22 Eco Council. As a student leadership group, the Eco Council audits the needs of the school community, develops an action plan to make the school a more sustainable place to learn, and assesses the impact of those action. This ASA will run throughout the year yet for each term, we will ask for students to reevaluate their commitment to the team and reapply to stay on the Eco Council for each term.

Fairgreen Secondary Choir
Do you love to sing? Like working as part of a team? Enjoy performing to others? Love being on stage?
Being in Secondary Choir will allow you to: develop correct singing techniques, develop understanding of harmony through singing in parts, build a repertoire of a variety of genres, develop collaborative skills, show leadership, perform on stage at school events, represent our school in available external events.

School Newspaper
This is a new initiative designed to provide students from Grades 10 & 11 the opportunity to design, produce, edit and publish a school newspaper. The project will be completely student led and will be a creative outlet for all involved, as well as an opportunity to develop leadership skills. It will also offer DP/CP students the opportunity to earn CAS/Service Learning hours.
Content will reflect the Fairgreen values, but will be driven by student interests and passions. We welcome anyone with an interest in photography, comics/illustration, graphic design, art, journalism and creative writing to join!

"JUNK KOUTURE" is an insight into the worldwide fashion industry of sustainability fashion. Students will be introduced into fashion design skills and techniques, such as sketching, fashion illustrations and designing. Learners will design costumes which are designed with materials which are sustainable and can bring their designs to life.
Academic Writing
Across the globe, students are being held to higher and more rigorous standards for writing and most students would benefit from more explicit instruction to improve the clarity and complexity of their writing. During this ASA there will be a short lesson on tips and techniques to improve academic writing. We will start with improving sentence structure and move throughout the year to include writing summaries, outlines, paragraphs, and finally argumentative essays. After the mini-lesson, students will have time to improve their writing assignments from Art, I&S, Math, and Science and will receive peer and teacher feedback.
