With a campus designed for minimal environmental impact, utilizing solar power for all its energy needs, recycling all its water for agricultural use, and implementing waste separation, Fairgreen International School in Dubai empowers students to play a leading role in creating a sustainable future for our world.
At our home in The Sustainable City, we have a true community school in the heart of Dubai.
Fairgreen’s educational programme is driven by academic achievement and innovation and is delivered by an exceptional team of international educators. Its challenging programme seamlessly integrates an intensive sustainable education curriculum to create a truly unique school in Dubai. Fairgreen’s curriculum features hands-on project-based learning, research-supported teaching methods, technology initiatives and worldwide partnerships with leading experts and organizations in sustainability-related research and practice.
Fairgreen is proud to be a part of The Sustainable City in Dubai, modelled to become an international showcase for sustainable living, work, education, and recreation. Recently awarded as Dubai’s happiest community, this pioneering development will enable Fairgreen students to experience sustainable living in action, and access the city’s unique resources such as a dedicated biodome with aquaponics and urban farming equipment, the Equestrian Centre and the Innovation Centre.
Congratulations to the first cohort of Fairgreen teachers and staff who voluntarily completed the ".b Foundations" Teacher Mindfulness course, an 8-week program developed by the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP), a UK-based non-profit established in 2009 to help improve the mental health and wellbeing of children. Our Head of Counseling Mrs. Jackie Greenwood is the only MiSP-trained teacher in Dubai who is certified to teach this course.
Fairgreen's Technology Specialist Mr. Matt Backus arranged for a series of valuable visits from a Senior Apple Professional Learning Specialist. Students and teachers have benefitted from this experience by learning how to optimize use of Apple/iPad products.
Fairgreen recently hosted the Jobs Alike Conference, an annual meeting for IB teachers and curriculum coordinators held by the UAE Association of IB Schools, formerly part of the Middle East IB Association.
Fairgreen students run a plastic collection programme on campus that repurposes used plastic bottles into t-shirts. Recently, Grade 5 students partook in a desert clean-up and learned firsthand just how important this effort is.
We are excited to announce Fairgreen has been selected as a finalist at the Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots Awards on February 6, 2020, at the Park Hyatt in Abu Dhabi. Four of our students are invited to present the work we are doing to promote solar power as part of Fairgreen’s Million Solar Stars program, an international initiative founded by Fairgreen’s MYP Science Teacher Mr. Adam Hall with the goal of engaging 1 million students in the process of scaling up solar power at 100% of schools around the world.
